Adam Aponte, MD, MSc, FAAP, was born and raised in East Harlem, NY to Puerto Rican parents. Growing up he navigated his way through the public-school system in NYC and graduated with a BS in biology from City College. He earned his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. 

From a young age, Aponte has had an interest in studying medicine and was determined to become a physician. He saw a critical need to address and overcome the under-representation of minority physicians within healthcare and to improve healthcare disparities impacting disadvantaged communities, including his own. 

Aponte enthusiastically lends his support to community health centers, such as the Boriken Health Center that serves over 12,000 individuals each year and includes an array of services within family and adult medicine, education and outreach, counseling, and comprehensive HIV-related support services.
