Dr. Damiano is a co-founder of Beta Bionics. Ever since his son developed type 1 diabetes at 11 months of age, Damiano has been committed to building a bihormonal bionic pancreas. 

Damiano is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Boston University. He previously was an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois.

Damiano received a doctorate in applied mechanics and a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an master of science degree in mechanical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.
