Jane Williams, MD, MPH, FAAFP, is Vice President and Head of Neuroscience, Rare Disease, and Pediatrics at Syneos Health, a global biopharmaceutical solutions organization. She has more than 25 years experience in clinical research oversight, clinical practice, academia and healthcare management, including 15 years of clinical experience in adult and pediatric medicine. Williams has authored three publications about epilepsy and is co-author of the CNS Drug Development chapter in Rare Disease Drug Development (Springer).

Williams joined Syneos Health in 2017, where she leads a team of 40 medical directors supporting small to large biotechs in clinical drug development, asset strategy, clinical trial design and the scientific integrity of clinical trials. Williams is a champion for health equity to ensure the representation of diverse populations in trials. 

She was previously the Medical Director at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, where she shaped medical policy including new initiatives on provider outreach and engagement. Prior, Williams was a Medical Director at Parexel International, a clinical research organization, where she provided medical oversight and safety management for clinical trials for vaccines, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary therapeutics. Earlier in her career, Williams supported patients and families as a family medicine physician.

Williams serves as a member of Cure’s Leadership Committee for the 2024 XSeed Award, which provides New York City minority- and women-led life science and healthcare startups critical funding to translate scientific discoveries into commercially successful drug therapies. She is passionate about nurturing new scientists and bringing out their untapped abilities through coaching and teaching.

“There are brilliant people out there who don't have the visibility necessary to capture the attention of funders and institutions,” Williams said. “I’m excited to help some great ideas get the consideration they deserve.”

Williams earned her AB in art history from Dartmouth College, her MD from Albany Medical College of Union University, her MPH from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and is working on her MBA at the Isenberg School of Management at University of Massachusetts. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and was an adjunct clinical faculty member at Boston University School of Medicine and Albany Medical College of Union University.

Williams is a competitive rower, with a crew based on the Merrimack River. She enjoys the mental fortitude and team camaraderie when training and racing.
