  1. The annual World Alzheimer’s Day, Sept. 21, is a day of global activity and awareness raising and the focal point of World Alzheimer’s Month, which happens each September.

  2. Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) launched World Alzheimer’s Day in 1994, to celebrate ADI’s 10th anniversary.

  3. The 2024 theme “Time to act on dementia, Time to act on Alzheimer’s,” addresses the stigma and discrimination that still exists around dementia.

  4. More than 55 million live with dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease may contribute to 60 to 70 percent of dementia diagnoses, per the World Health Organization. An estimated 6.9 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s Disease, per the American Alzheimer’s Association.

  5. The World Alzheimer Report 2024, from ADI and the London School of Economics, takes a deep dive into the current perceptions of dementia by those living with the condition, carers, health care practitioners and the general public.
